crontab, nohup, ungrib.exe

Having problems running the WRF Preprocessing Sysmte (WPS)?

crontab, nohup, ungrib.exe

Postby zayfin » Tue Jul 23, 2019 10:17 am

i try to run WRF with crontab.
I have encountered many problems so far. I took care of it all.
but I could not solve the ungrib.exe.
i use python script to download GFS data
than i wrote very very simple shell script because python script caused a lot of problem in crontab.
when i use nohup command, everything is ok. but in crontab process, the scripts are not running well.

how can i solve this?

*********
i open crontab with this command>> crontab -e
********
crontab rows >>>>

50 06 * * * /home/wrf/githubWRF/opsWRF4_2.py >&/home/wrf/githubWRF/crontab.log
BASH_ENV="/home/wrf/.bashrc"
10 10 * * * source /home/wrf/.bashrc; /home/wrf/githubWRF/wps.sh >&/home/wrf/githubWRF/crontab.wps.log
*************
this is the error i got
1617 Segmentation fault ./ungrib.exe
i think that PFILE process is ok but FILE process causes the problem
**********
this is shell script. it is very very simple

#!/bin/bash
echo "WPS start"
cd /home/wrf/githubWRF/WPS/
echo "ungrib start"
date
./ungrib.exe
echo "ungrib finish"
date
./metgrid.exe
date
echo "metgrid finish"
cd /home/wrf/githubWRF/WRF4_1/test/em_real/
ln -sf /home/wrf/githubWRF/WPS/met_em* .
date
echo "real exe start"
nohup mpirun -np 4 ./real.exe
date
echo "wrf start"
nohup mpirun -np 18 ./wrf.exe
date
echo "wrf finish"

Dear,

I have the same problem. I built a script shell programme and it runs normally if executed manually from terminal, however if executed by the crontab it returns a segmentation fault error in ungrib (in the second swap of the ungrib, when the it should start to save the FILES) !! I ran with ungrib with root and everythinf is ok, :?

Did you find a solution for this problem?

Thanks in advance.
