Creating a land-ocean boundary in quarter_ss

Hi all,

I hope that someone can help me with a land-initialization issue that I'm having in WRFV3.9.1.

I'm attempting to initialize the idealized test case "quarter_ss" with a land-ocean boundary, by writing XLAND and LU_INDEX values to wrfinput_d01. However, soil variables such as TMN, TSK, DZ, and DZS aren't calculated through module_initialization_quarter_ss.F, and the only variable read in from LANDUSE.TBL and VEGPARAM.TBL is Z0. Therefore, as WRF runs, the land is still treated as ocean, only with higher z0 values (and therefore higher latent heat fluxes into the atmosphere).

Does anyone know how I can fix the quarter_ss code to fix this issue? For reference, I have no issues when applying the same XLAND and LU_INDEX edits to the "tropical_cyclone" test case.

I'm using the MYJ PBL and slab surface physics schemes. I'd be happy to provide more information if needed.
