PBL schemes

Postby amy1086 » Fri Apr 03, 2009 3:32 am

Is it possible to use WRF with GB01(developed by Grenier and Bretherton) PBL scheme?
I've used WRFV3 ARW with YSU and MYJ schemes to simulate 10m wind speed around oceanic front zone but got an underestimation over its warmer flank and overrestimation in the colder flank. I want to try the PBL scheme developed by Grenier and Bretherton but it seems that WRF doesn't contain this option.

Thanks in advance

I don't believe that scheme is incorporated in to WRF.

Feel free to port it in. The code should be written in Fortran 90. Follow the output variables of the other schemes, modify the registry to add the scheme and modify the makefiles to build the code, and add the relevant calls in the driver for the pbl schemes. Look in the phys/ directory.
