ACM PBL RIBX RIC problem

ACM PBL RIBX RIC problem

I am running WRF3.5 with PX LSM, Surface layer and ACM2 PBL option. The simulation stops with the following message

Has anybody encountered this problem? I know physically it means that bulk richardson number is exceeding critical Richardson number. But, how do I resolve it?
The same simulation runs successfully with other PBL schemes. I'm facing this problem with only ACM PBL.

I have used PX LSM, Surface layer and ACM2 PBL options before also (for other time periods) without any problems. I dont suspect my input met data (1 degree FNLs) because other PBL options are working fine.

This doesnt seems like CFL problem because reducing time step hasn't helped.

Hi, I am having the same problem with WRF 3.5.1. Did you find a solution for it? Reducing the timestep doesn't help for me either... Thanks Dom

Hi again,

It seems that the ACM2 PBL is a little more vulnerable than the other PBL schemes. In my case, the other PBL schemes sometimes crashed later with cfl error messages, sometimes went through. I interpret the ACM2 error messages a warning that something might be wrong with your domain configuration (topography too close to the boundary etc). After changing the domain setup, all PBL schemes went through smoothly in my case.

Hello,
I am getting the same error with WRF 3.7 and the ACM2 PBL scheme.
I have two nests, the simulation is crashing in the first nest.
I tried changing the time step and then the number of vertical levels but this did not help.
In your post you say this error might be a warning that something
is wrong with the domain configuration (topography too close to the boundary etc).
I tried reducing the size of my first domain but the simulation crashed again.
Could you tell me if you modified the extension of your domain
or the number of vertical levels to avoid this problem?
