GRDFLX zero

Can anybody please help me.
In all calculations I have zero values of GRDFLX. What can be the reason for that?
Also what is the exact meaning of GRDFLX? Is it the heat flux to ground at the upper boundary of the soil layer (interface with air) or possibly it is the heat flux through the bottom boundary of soil layer in which heat conduction equation is solved? Output variable GLDFLX is only available when one uses sf_surface_physics = 2 or 3, or a full
land=surface model. sf_surface_physics = 1 is only a very simple thermal diffusion model, and
it does not consider soil moisture.
