Is RAINSH just a component of RAINC?

In order to calculate total accumulated precip, is it just RAINC+RAINNC, or should I also add in RAINSH? Since RAINSH is shallow cumulus precip, I am guessing that it is just a component of RAINC. Is this correct?

No. RAINSH and RAINC are total accumulated precipitation from DIFFERENT microphysics schemes, so you should sum up RAINSH, RAINC and RAINNC to obtain total precipitation.
