Calculating surface albedo with CLMv4

Postby alcandkmk » Wed Jun 28, 2017 12:48 am

Hi all,

I am running WRFv3.6 with the CLMv4 as the land surface option. From the CLMv4 technical document, I see that the CLM calculates surface albedo using soil type (in version 4.0, soil type is 20 color classes with their respective albedos, that I believe are satellite derived) and snow fractions. Unless I am misreading the files, the albedo values for a given land use is not included in the 'LANDUSE.TBL' and 'VEGPARM.TBl' files for the CLM.

Does anyone know where I can find more information about 'standard' surface albedo values for a given land use that is used by the CLM? The purpose of my research is investigated land use changes, so the changes in surface albedo is an important diagnostic variable. Any help is greatly appreciated!!
