Heat Fluxes over water surfaces

Dear all,

Looking through explanations of how the heat fluxes are resolved in the WRF, I found that over water they are calculated in the Sf_physics schemes.

Some of them have referencies about how is resolved, but i can't find how the MYNN resolve these conditions.

Someone has this answer or a paper where can I find this?

Hi,

regarding the surface heat fluxes you can look in the source code of module_sf_mynn.F. In line 1097f HFX (the sensible heat flux) is calculated and directly above LH the latent heat flux. For HFX the calculation differs between land and water surface (this is the check for XLAND).

The calculation is simply the gradient times a factor. How this factor is calculated you can see in line 1075f.
