How to do forecasting with WRF?

Postby sulin » Mon Aug 02, 2010 3:17 am

I am a new WRF user and have been doing interpolation with WRF for weeks. Now I want to do some forecasting cases, could someone tell me how to do forecasting with WRF such as how to set namelist.input or if i need more initial meteorological boundary data?

Any help is very appreciated!

Hi Lin,

Pretty much all the information you could need about the WRF can be found - or is linked to - from:

Good luck

Hi,

I has been working in forecasting for many weeks. Its important the kind of grid files that you download. There are two kinds, re-analysis and forecast, so look for those made for forecasting. Then you need to check the dates in namelist.wps

Hi Cesar i was using NCEP ds 083.2 grib files for reanalysis.. please tell me which one for forecasting.. and kindly provide a sample namelist.wps and Namelist.input to understand how to give start time and end time for forecasting

Hi Cesar!
Know I'm working with the WRF. I want to do a forecast with the WRF if i use the GFS data is ok?
I think that forecast in WRF model should be started from one known time peroid. for example, I have the dataset(gfs ), the start time is 2011-01-01_00 and the end time is 2011-01-02_00. I want to forecast 2009-01-03 etc.
How can i do that?
