Issue when running wrf.exe

Postby lee » Tue Jul 09, 2013 2:58 am

Dear All,

I tried to run the default January 2000 case in WRF v3.5 (the East Coast Winter Storm of January 24-25, 2000), and failed when running wrf.exe:
[sl@sl0 em_real]$ mpirun -np 4 ./wrf.exe
starting wrf task 0 of 4
starting wrf task 3 of 4
starting wrf task 1 of 4
starting wrf task 2 of 4

By setting the statck size with "ulimit -s 262140", this issue was solved.

I had this problem but right now is running. My solution was

1 Delete all the files and begin again.
2 Launch with mpiexec -l -n 4 ./wrf.exe # 4 is for your number of processors

"ulimit" is a word known for "bash", "ksh" and "sh" shells. For "csh" and "tcsh", the magic work is "limit".

The biggest reason for seg faults in WRF is a numerical instability problem. Check all the "rsl.out*" and
"rsl.error*" files for complaints. You'll probably find one. Reduce your timestep size.
