HPC performance calculation

Postby namth56 » Tue Nov 20, 2018 4:14 am

Dear WRF users,

I'm calculating the HPC performance required for WRF model. Is there anybody know how to calculate? For example, I want to run the model for 10 degree x 10 degree domain. The required output resolution is 1km, time resolution is 30 minutes. How fast the HPC (in TFlops) will be required for running the model for this domain?

Thanks,
Nam

Nam...

There isn't anything that I'm aware of to determine what you want. There are just too many variables.
No two cpus are a like. Microphysics options will have difference performance requirements. Thompson
is faster than some of the others. Variables computed make a difference.

Your best bet is to do some runs on an HPC system and see what happens.
