-N option in copygb

Postby laragunn » Wed Jul 02, 2014 5:18 am

Hi

I am trying to run copygb on a grib file I have that contains wrf output data. I am trying to compare my wrf output to another product. However the other product I have seem to store their data with very low packing precision and when I send it through copygb I get whole numbers. I trying to change the scaling manually using the -N option but it isn't making a differene. Do you have any ideas on how I can get the data to not come out as whole numbers? The original data is to at least 5 decimal places.

example of an original field

UGRD=u wind [m/s]
timerange 10 P1 0 P2 0 TimeU 1 nx 195 ny 195 GDS grid 3 num_in_ave 0 missing 0
enter 7 subcenter 0 process 89 Table 2
Lambert Conf: Lat1 46.874000 Lon1 -11.957000 Lov 0.000000
Latin1 60.000000 Latin2 30.000000 LatSP 0.000000 LonSP 0.000000
North Pole (195 x 195) Dx 8.000000 Dy 8.000000 scan 64 mode 137
min/max data -3.69279 7.61971 num bits 8 BDS_Ref -3.69279 DecScale 0 BinScale -4

example of that field after copygb has run

UGRD=u wind [m/s]
timerange 10 P1 0 P2 0 TimeU 1 nx 195 ny 195 GDS grid 3 num_in_ave 0 missing 0
center 7 subcenter 0 process 89 Table 2
Lambert Conf: Lat1 46.874000 Lon1 -11.957000 Lov 0.000000
Latin1 60.000000 Latin2 30.000000 LatSP 0.000000 LonSP 0.000000
North Pole (195 x 195) Dx 8.000000 Dy 8.000000 scan 64 mode 137
min/max data -4 8 num bits 4 BDS_Ref -4 DecScale 0 BinScale 0

Thanks
