met_em files at non-hourly timesteps

Postby emilyp » Thu Jul 14, 2016 6:05 am

Due to the time zone of my observational data, I would like to output WRF in three-hourly timesteps but at quarter past the hour, so at 06:15, 09:15, 12:15 etc. I have set both the WPS and WRF namelists to start at 06:15, but the met files are still produced on the hour and I can't get WRF to input on the hour but output at quarter past. When I run ungrib I get the error message:

"Subroutine DATINT: Interpolating 3-d files to fill in any missing data...
Looking for data at time 2014-07-01_06
Found surrounding files: GFS: 2014-07-01_06 and GFS: 2014-07-01_12
Interpolating to create file: GFS: 2014-07-01_06
A Time Difference = 0.250000
B Time Difference = 5.750000
At line 156 of file datint.f90 (unit = 11, file = '')
Fortran runtime error: File 'GFS:2014-07-01_06' already exists"

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong or if there's a work-around? I could set WRF to produce output files every 15 minutes but this would take up too much space. Has anyone managed to output wrfout files at times that don't fall on the hour?
