Any issues with running WRF Chemistry

Error in the Mie routine in WRF-Chem 3.5

Postby carito » Thu Aug 08, 2013 5:58 pm

Hi, I wonder if anyone has faced a similar problem like the one below.

I have run a series of short experiments (2 days at 9km) resolution for various cases with high dust emissions over a relatively small domain West Africa by testing all the dust available options coupled with MOSAIC using WRF-Chem 3.5

In some of the cases, the experiment finishes successfully without any problem. However, there are some cases when I change the date, the experiment crashes after 24 hours and I get the following error:

Tile Strategy is not specified. Assuming 1D-Y
WRF TILE 1 IS 229 IE 304 JS 1 JE 67
WRF NUMBER OF TILES = 1
-------------- FATAL CALLED ---------------
FATAL CALLED FROM FILE: <stdin> LINE: 78
mieaer /refr/ outside range 1e-3 - 10 refr= 0.11197E+02

I have been scratching my head about what might be happening. Specially because it does not happen all the time but just for specific days even though I am not making any changes to the namelist.input, same domain, time-length, same number of processors, etc the only thing I change is date.

Any comment or suggestion is welcome.

Many thanks

Carolina

Hi Carolina,

I just got exactly the same problem as you!. Did you find any solution to solve this problem?. In my case the simulation crashes after 2-day simulation period.

Thank you.

I also have received this same error using WRF-Chem 3.7. Were either of you ever able to solve it? Did you end up having to switch chemical mechanisms?

Thanks,
Ari
