Using MOSAIC for dust emissions

Postby parajusp » Mon Jan 21, 2019 8:53 am

I want to use MOSAIC aerosol option for dust simulations and I am looking at WRF V4.0.2 source code module_mosaic_addemiss.F. It looks like AFWA dust scheme is not coupled with MOSAIC currently and we must use GOCART or another Shaw dust scheme. I noticed that there is a new dust_opt = 13, this option is not described in WRF Chem user's guide; earlier there were options from 0 to 4 only. Could you please tell me what exactly is this option? Does this option direct the model to use MOSAIC with GOCART dust scheme? I tried to contact Dr. Chun Zhao who implemented this but I couldn't find his working email.

Thank you very much for your helping attitude,

For everyone's benefit, I will answer the question myself as it seems to be a popular question. Yes, we have to use dust_opt = 13, which is a newly added option, to activate MOSAIC aerosol scheme.
