[SOLVED] length of accumulated rainfall

Postby wintermute » Wed Jun 17, 2015 5:31 pm

Hi all,

probably a stupid question but I cannot find the answer anywhere. I know that the accumulated precipitation variables are RAINC (convective), RAINSH (shallow convective) and RAINNC (microphysics) and therefore the total accumulated precipitation = RAINC + RAINSH + RAINNC.

But how long is the accumulation period? Over the model time step? Over the output time step (i.e.: wrfout_d01_2013-12-30_07:00:00 contains the accumulated precipitation for 7 AM of the 30th December 2013)? Over the simulation time (i.e.: if I run a monthly simulation on December 2013 the wrfout_d01_2013-12-31_12:00:00 contains all the precipitation accumulated from simulation start up to that hour)?

By the way, what I need is the total precipitation in the month of simulation...

Thanks!

I will answer to my own post, hoping that it may help somebody: the accumulation length is from model start so the last file includes all the accumulated rainfall.
