Assimilating winds in WRFDA 3.5

Postby dmoreno1 » Tue May 14, 2013 6:40 am

Hello all,

I'm trying to assimilate station-measured wind speed and direction with WRFDA 3.5. It says in the users page that "Wind speed/direction observations can now be directly assimilated", but in the Users Giuide I don't see any section about how to do it.

Another question: Is it possible to assimilate gridded observations (QuikSCAT, CCMP, etc.) with WRFDA, without the obvious possibility of treating each grid point as one station? This woulb be very helpful, because i would not need to convert hundreds of grid points to "stations"...

And I saw the option "use_qscatobs" in WRFDA namelist. This is an option specifically designed to assimilate QuikSCAT data? I also found no section in Uders <guide of how to do this...

Any help on these question is highly appreciated!!!!! Thank you all
