metgrid and ERA-interim (50 levels?)

Postby manuelo » Tue Feb 12, 2019 7:00 am

Hello every one,

I try to run WRF with ERA-interim input. That worked well using double moment MORRISON scheme. however, I want to run the same case with a more complex microphysics scheme, and here after few hour it failed with a segmentation fault. Advise from my colleague, is to reduce the number of levels (61 by default with era interim). So I would like to reduce to about 45 - 50 levels.
My question is: is that possible ? and How ?
my first guess is: it would be by using metgrid. But I'm new in WRF (and forecast) using, and not sure about anything.

thanks for helping.

Have you tried 'e_vert'? In your namelist.input file there is a section called '&domains'. I believe 'e_vert' is the option for vertical levels -- more here: http://www2.mmm.ucar.edu/wrf/users/name ... tml#e_vert
