metgrid.exe problems

Hi,
I am trying to run metgrid.exe with some intermediate files that I created. When I run metgrid.exe, I get the following message:

WARNING: Field PSFC has missing values at level 0 at (i,j)=(109,1)
WARNING: Field PMSL has missing values at level 0 at (i,j)=(109,1)
ERROR: Missing values encountered in interpolated fields. Stopping

If I look at the data at (i,j)=(109,1), everything seems to be OK. There are no missing values there! What could be the problem? What does metgrid.exe consider as missing values in PSFC and PMSL?

I thank you in advance!

Regards,

Michael

Hi,

This problem could be caused by the units you are using in your pressure field. Are your input pressure data in hPa or Pa?

Metgrid.exe needs the input data in Pa. If your data is in hPa, then every number less than 1000 will be considered a missing value.

If your data is in hPa, just multiply it by 100. You can add that multiplication factor to your fortran file. Then run metgrid again and it should work.

Please, keep me posted. And if there's anything I can help you with, I'd be glad to!

Have a great day!

Hi. Thanks fou your time,

apparently this is not my problem because I can run metgrid without problem when the nested level is a single one, when I add a new sub domain (three levels of nesting) metgrid does not work with the same input data)

Should be another thing, I do not any idea about it

Thanks again

Hi,

I am trying to compare runs for both ARW and NMM using the same NAM with grib2 vtable (Vtable.NAMGRIB2), same domain (except that the NMM one had to have even numbers for e_we & e_sn) and same initialized NAM data. The ARW run worked fine, however I am getting the same error as the other person about missing values (see below). I am new to this, so I guess to check on my pressure units I need to do an ncdump on the original grib files or the ungrib output files? If these are wrong, I am also unfamiliar with changing the metgrid code to fix my problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

HI,
I am also facing the same problem ...
I am trying to coupled GEM CMC and WRF model. I am trying to use GEM CMC 15km forecasted data as input to WRF model.
I have created the Vtable and successfully run geogrid.exe and ungrib.exe. But when i am trying to run metgrid.exe it gives me following problem. I dont know what is going wrong. Please help me in sorting out this error.

Hi,

What does your Vtable look like?

Perhaps the pressure fields aren't read correctly.
