One more thing:
Reduce your model domain, I am not sure, but it looks as it is larger than that of your input data.
Start without the nest and the mod_lev, start simple. When it works you can start making things complicate :)

Check to make absolutely sure that the domain you are using does not extend beyond the grid area of the analysis/input data you are using.

I have run into this many times when going from a small regional domain to a continental-size domain or when I had used a portion of a global domain (ERA) and then tried to run a continental domain (NAM 218). The outer domain I chose went just off the edge of the actual NAM 218 domain. The model is expecting there to be data at those grid points you've identified in Domain Wizard / namelist.wps / GRIBFILE.* and if your analysis dataset you are trying to use as initial and boundary conditions is too small, this is exactly the error it gives.

hi,
Did you ever figure anything out about the missing fields error? I am having the same error, but with AWIP data. It says:

Processing domain 1 of 1
Processing 2014-07-11_00
FILE
WARNING: Field PRES has missing values at level 200100 at (i,j)=(1,1)
WARNING: Field PSFC has missing values at level 200100 at (i,j)=(1,1)
WARNING: Field PMSL has missing values at level 201300 at (i,j)=(1,1)
ERROR: Missing values encountered in interpolated fields. Stopping.

please help

thanks & regard

Hi everyone !
Sometimes I have a problem with metgrid. When I run wrf (version 3.7) with dataset gfs in the first time I have error. In last time this is "not enough info for a p sfc computation". After that I repeat the prosses and all it is OK. I don't change anything. It is very strange. May be somebody deals with this situation.
(by the way, dataset is downloaded from nomads.ncep.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/filter_gfs_0p25.pl with some filter)

Thanks, Mary!

Hi all,

I write this post simply to help other people that can have the same issue.

I was trying to run WPS with latlon grid of 10000 m resolution but I forgot that a should set DX and DY namelist in degrees, so I set DX=10000 and DY=10000 at namelist.wps file. When I'd executed metgrid.exe the following message had appeared:

+ /opt/sgi/mpt/mpt-2.10/bin/mpirun r1i2n0 06 /usr/bin/dplace -c 0-5 ./metgrid.exe
Processing domain 1 of 1
Processing 2017-01-18_00
FILE
WARNING: Field PRES has missing values at level 200100 at (i,j)=(405,1)
WARNING: Field PRES has missing values at level 200100 at (i,j)=(405,261)
WARNING: Field PRES has missing values at level 200100 at (i,j)=(405,523)
WARNING: Field GHT has missing values at level 200100 at (i,j)=(405,1)
WARNING: Field GHT has missing values at level 200100 at (i,j)=(405,261)
WARNING: Field GHT has missing values at level 200100 at (i,j)=(405,523)
WARNING: Field HGTTROP has missing values at level 200100 at (i,j)=(405,1)
WARNING: Field TTROP has missing values at level 200100 at (i,j)=(405,1)
WARNING: Field PTROPNN has missing values at level 200100 at (i,j)=(405,1)
WARNING: Field PTROP has missing values at level 200100 at (i,j)=(405,1)
WARNING: Field VTROP has missing values at level 200100 at (i,j)=(405,1)
WARNING: Field UTROP has missing values at level 200100 at (i,j)=(405,1)

My mistake about that was to use latlon projection but set DX=DY=10000 meters at namelist.wps. Since I was using LATLON, I should use DX=DY=0.09 which corresponds to approximately 10000 meters.

Hope it help someone!
