real.exe error with ECMWF

Postby adem » Thu Dec 06, 2012 5:36 pm

Hi,

I run WRF with GFS successfully. I try it with ECMWF, real.exe but I have this error :
Namelist noah_mp not found in namelist.input. Using registry defaults for variables in noah_mp
Namelist scm not found in namelist.input. Using registry defaults for variables in scm
Namelist fire not found in namelist.input. Using registry defaults for variables in fire

I have another error concerning the numbers of soil level. They are not into account when I run metgrid. I correct it in the namelist.input by replacing it by 0. I think that is the same problem.

When I see the output of metgrid, some variables miss.
Any idea?

Thanks

I think that's the problem. Which variables are missing in your metgrid output?
Surface wind, temp, and humidity?

Are those variables in your ECMWF data?
Are they ungribbed correctly?

I have download all variables of the ECMWF data.
When I run ungrib.exe, I have :

Code: Select all
PRES   GEOPT    HGT      TT       UU       VV       RH       DEWPT    LANDSEA  SOILGEO  SOILHGT  PSFC     PMSL     SKINTEMP SEAICE   SST      SNOW_EC  SNOW     ST000007 ST007028 ST028100 ST100255 SM000007 SM007028 SM028100 SM100255

 975.0  X        X        X        X        X        X
 950.0  X        X        X        X        X        X

I think it is ungribbed correctly, I don't have errors.
With GFS data, I have crosses or circles for all variables, With ECMWF, that is only the six first variables.

Is the Vtable.ECMWF OK?

Do you have ECMWF data on model/hybrid levels or on sigma/pressure levels?
Be sure to use the right Vtable: Vtable.ECMWF for the former and Vtable.ECMWF_sigma for the latter.

Hi AchternDiek,

With these two Vtable, I have the same problem.

I modfied the Vtable and all data are found when I run ungrib (except the dew point).
To create the new Vtable, I use g1print to know all variables, their level and their type code.
But I am not sure about the name of the variables in WRF in the meteo file. Fot U, V and T, it is OK, metgrid find them but I have problems for "cloud water ratio" or "cloud ice ratio"...

How can I find their name in WRF? I don't find these names in the file gribmap. They are not in the metgrid.tbl too. I must create these variables in this file?

Any idea?

Thanks

I find my error, I forgot the file "SFC".
I thought that all data were in the same file as GFS.
