WRFSI problem on Cray AMD Opteron cluster - Repost

I have been using WRF and wrfsi (latest versions) on an AIX IBM SP4 in 64 bit. I am now trying to get WRF and wrfsi working on a Cray AMD opteron 64 bit machine. I have been able to get wrfsi to compile and the gui to come up without too much trouble (I did check the FAQ on the wrfsi and the AMD opternon chipset). However, I am having some difficulties now that I am in the Initial Data section. When I try to read in GRIB1 data it comes back with and error saying that I need the Grib2 decoding software (attached gp_FH.2004021006.log file). I have followed the instructions and figured out how to get the GRIB2 routines to compile under the opteron 64 bit chipset (only took a little bit of modification of the Makefile.GRIB2 in the src/grib_prep subdirectories).

After a successful compile with these modifications I now have a new and
improved grib_prep.exe installed (I used the command 'Make realclean'
followed by 'perl install_wrfsi.pl' to make sure everything was fresh).
I started up to gui again and received the same error when I got to the
grib_prep section.

I am not sure what to think at this point. My conclusion is that either
there is a problem with grib_prep processing GRIB1 data on the 64 bit
opteron and/or something else is wrong with the script that states I need
GRIB2 decoding software (why would it say I need it when I have it
installed?).

1) The wrfsi compile is without error (attached - make_install.log).
2) The data can be read as GRIB1 data with wrfsi compiled on an AIX box
in 64 bit
3) The data is download from tgftp.nws.noaa.gov. This is a source of
data I have been using for years for MM5 and more recently for WRF.
4) The data name starts with FH but is AVN data. I just created a new
choice in the initial data section for sources that has FH as option and
it uses the AVN Vtable.

6) I have put a print statement into the grib_prep_adv routine and it says
the data is grib1 format.

Hopefully I have given you enough information, if you need more info,
please let me know.

Although I still have not fixed the problem yet, I have learned a few additional things. The data is grib 1 and the grib_prep_adv.F and gribcode.F know this. The gribcode.F throws it's hands up when it sees that the grib edition number is 66. That is the source of the code returning the "Install Grib2 software" error. Still haven't determined how to get wrfsi to read in and understand the data.
