How is num_metgrid_levels determined in those met_em files?

Hi,

I am new to WRF here. I have tried to run WRF with two datasets, the CESM 20th century and the CFSR. But I noticed something strange. For both datasets, I set in "namelist.wps"

&mod_levs
press_pa = 201300 , 200100 , 100000 ,
95000 , 90000 ,
85000 , 80000 ,
75000 , 70000 ,
65000 , 60000 ,
55000 , 50000 ,
45000 , 40000 ,
35000 , 30000 ,
25000 , 20000 ,
15000 , 10000 ,
5000 , 1000

But, with the CESM data, my met_em files read:

num_metgrid_levels = 27 ;

While with the CFSR data, my met_em files read:

num_metgrid_levels = 33 ;

Could someone explain to me why the two numbers do not match? I had thought they were controlled by the press_pa option. Thanks!
