Why the model instability seen in temperature time series?

Postby brian.blaylock » Wed Mar 23, 2016 5:03 pm

Is this kind of output typical in WRF? I'm plotting the tslist output for temperature at a location and comparing it to the observed data. It appears there is model instability near sunrise and sunset indicated by the apparent thick black line. Eventually the model stabilizes. My guess is that there is some deficiency in the radiation model.

I'm curious, is this kind of output normal? Do other people see this often?

For reference:
Time Step = 2 seconds
dx/dy = 1 km
ra_lw_physics = 24
ra_sw_physics = 24
radt = 2

Anything else you want to know?
