Problems with 2 domain run

Postby snyderjm » Tue Jun 29, 2010 2:56 am

I tried running the WRF model using 2 domains in the namelist.input however when I ran real.exe I got the following message:

Domain 2: Current date being processed: 2003-04-01_00:00:00.0000, which is loop # 1 out of 10
configflags%julyr, %julday, %gmt: 2003 91 0.0000000
----------------- ERROR -------------------
namelist : NUM_LAND_CAT = 1
input files : NUM_LAND_CAT = 24 (from geogrid selections).
-------------- FATAL CALLED ---------------
FATAL CALLED FROM FILE: <stdin> LINE: 464
Mismatch between namelist and wrf input files for dimension NUM_LAND_CAT

What is going on here? Do I have to modify something under geogrid in namelist.wps? How do I resolve this problem?

Jason,

Could you post your namelist.wps and namelist.input files?

If you want num_land_cat = 1 in the WPS, then you have to set a few things. First you have to edit the geog/landuse_xxx/index. This could be landuse_30s or landuse_2m etc. You must edit the maxium category. Secondly, you must set num_land_cat = 1 in the process_domain_module.F in the WPS/metgrid/src and then recompile WPS and rerun geogrid and metgrid.

If you want 24 land-uses, then vi your namelist.input. Under &physics change num_land_cat from equalling 1 to eqaulling 24. Hope this helps.

How to edit the num_land_cat = 1 in the process_domain_module.F? There is no option to put =1 any where.
